Background
Given the extensive infrastructure and environmental initiatives being implemented in Hong Kong and across the Greater Bay Area (GBA), addressing the growing demand for qualified skills and high-calibre expertise is vital.
To meet this challenge and unlock new opportunities, the Hong Kong Institute of Qualified Environmental Professionals (HKIQEP) was founded in 2015 by stakeholders across the corporate sector, public sector, and established environmental professional institutions. In 2024, HKIQEP achieved statutory status under the Hong Kong Institute of Qualified Environmental Professionals Ordinance (Cap. 1183), officially establishing it as a recognized statutory body alongside Hong Kong’s other leading professional institutes.
HKIQEP is dedicated to establishing Hong Kong as a centre of excellence for professional environmental services. By aligning with the development of the environmental sector as a pillar industry, the institute fosters high-quality career opportunities for future generations and reinforces Hong Kong’s professional leadership throughout the GBA and beyond.
