Long Valley Nature Park, officially opened to the public in November 2024, is a 37-hectare site developed and managed by the Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department (AFCD) that integrates wetland conservation, eco‑friendly farming and nature education in one place. The Park adopts an open design with three management zones – the Biodiversity Zone for core conservation, the Agriculture Zone for eco‑friendly farming, and the Visitor Zone with facilities for interpretation and educational activities – providing a living example of how ecological conservation and sustainable agriculture can complement each other.
A guided visit of about 1.5 hours led by AFCD officers will be arranged in the morning, including an indoor presentation on the planning, zoning and management of LVNP and an outdoor walk that will cover all three management zones and showcase representative wetland habitats and traditional farmland landscapes supporting diverse wildlife. This event offers an excellent opportunity for members to better understand Hong Kong’s latest efforts in freshwater wetland conservation, ecology and public education on nature conservation, while experiencing the rich biodiversity of Long Valley first‑hand.
